Heidenhain LC 493F/1740mm Z-axis Scale Alarm Fault Repair
Engineering Equipment Centre Ltd (EEC Ltd), visited one of our regular precision machining customers in the Southwest to correct a HEIDENHAIN LC 493F/1740mm Z-axis scale alarm, fitted to a Studer Grinder. Studer manufacture high-end precision grinding machines, and the high accuracy of HEIDENHAIN machine tool equipment is a perfect match for these fantastic machines.
Upon removal, the LC 493F lip seals were damaged with contamination inside the scale/scanning head effecting the serial FANUC02 Interface. Once the scale was removed from the machine, EEC Ltd tested the LC 493F, stripped and re-lipped the scale, carried out a full service and finally cleared the logged errors.
Lip seals are one of numerous HEIDENHAIN parts carried in stock by EEC Ltd – for repairs carried out in-house at our workshop, or on-site at a customer’s premises for emergency & rapid repair, via our call out service.
We refitted the scale back onto the machine, another successful job by EEC Ltd, saving the customer down time and replacement scale cost. The HEIDENHAIN LC 493F lip seal repair was a fraction of the cost of a replacement unit.
