HEIDENHAIN encoders provide all of the information necessary for commissioning, monitoring and diagnostics. HEIDENHAIN PWM inspection devices and HEIDENHAIN PWT testing devices are available specifically for analysing the HEIDENHAIN encoders. Testing devices are used for checking the function of encoders. The PWTs have fewer functions than the PWMs, much higher measuring tolerances and cannot be calibrated. There are two types of diagnostics, depending on how the devices are integrated:

HEIDENHAIN Encoders – Diagnostics

The encoder is connected directly to the test or inspection device, enabling a fully comprehensive analysis of encoder functions.

HEIDENHAIN Diagnostics in the Control Loop

The HEIDENHAIN PWM phase meter is looped into the closed control loop (e.g. through a suitable testing adapter), enabling real-time diagnostics of the machine or system during operation. The available functions depend on the interface used.

HEIDENHAIN PWM 21

Together with the provided ‘ATS adjusting and testing software’, the HEIDENHAIN PWM 21 testing unit offers diagnostics and adjustment of absolute and incremental HEIDENHAIN encoders. The PWM 21 used with ATS software are a leading combination in function, flexibility and usability – particularly for the installation of HEIDENHAIN encoders, and is recommended for universal application.

HEIDENHAIN PWT 100

The HEIDENHAIN PWT 100 is a testing device for checking the function and adjustment of incremental and absolute HEIDENHAIN encoders. Thanks to the PWT 100’s compact dimensions and robust design, the HEIDENHAIN  PWT 100 is a perfect choice for mobile use. A 4.3-inch flat-panel touchscreen provides a comfortable display and user-friendly operation.
